Luxor Governor, Engineer Abdel Mottaleb Amara, attended the ceremony for handing over 100 housing units as the first phase of the Al-Toud Housing Project, which had been stalled for more than 16 years. The project includes 600 units distributed across 30 buildings. Citizens had contracted for these units back in 2008 and had been waiting for a solution to their issue until the governor decided to resolve the crisis and complete the project.
The event began with the national anthem and a recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the official delivery of unit contracts amid great joy among residents. The governor also toured the units that were handed over.
The Head of Al-Toud Center and City explained that each building consists of 20 units, each with an area of 65 square meters. The project had been delayed due to political events in 2011, fluctuating prices, and suspension of financial support. Thanks to the governor’s efforts, the units have now been completed, utilities such as sewage, water, and electricity connected, and a modern market established to serve the residents.

The governor expressed his happiness with the delivery of the first phase and his readiness to continue handing over the remaining units according to a timetable extending until 2026. He also stressed the continuation of efforts to resolve problems and implement stalled projects in the governorate.
This includes the development of areas such as Hodh 18 in Luxor, implementation of the Nile Corniche in Al-Qurna, the development of the surroundings of Esna Temple and the Arment Corniche, as well as the completion of sewage and healthcare service projects. Additionally, 56 health units have been upgraded, equipped with doctors, and two ferries have been operated between the eastern and western banks.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of executive and community leaders in the governorate, along with government and parliament representatives.
