Housing Prepares for Arab Conference in Cairo and Discusses Reconciliation Mechanisms and the 2026 Census

Engineer Nafisa Mahmoud Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities and Supervisor of the Housing and Utilities Sector, held an extensive meeting to review the mechanisms of work within the sector, follow up on field efforts in the housing directorates across the governorates, and oversee the ongoing preparations for the 9th Arab Housing Conference, scheduled to take place in Cairo in 2026.

This meeting comes in line with the directives of Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to enhance achievement rates and intensify follow-up on field activities. The meeting stressed the importance of continuous communication with engineering departments affiliated with the New Urban Communities Authority, with a particular focus on the timely response to inquiries related to the Reconciliation Law and the legalization of building statuses.

Preparatory procedures for the 9th Arab Housing Conference were also discussed. The event is organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the New Urban Communities Authority, the National Housing and Building Research Center, and the League of Arab States, with the aim of shedding light on challenges and future prospects in the housing sector.

The meeting also addressed coordination with the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in preparation for the 2026–2027 census. Discussions covered the current status of legislative amendments to the Occupants’ Union Law, designed to strengthen the protection of real estate assets and ensure their sustainability.

Engineer Nafisa Hashem, along with sector leaders, explored the available resources to overcome any challenges that might hinder workflow, with the objective of improving overall performance and enhancing the efficiency of the sector to meet the demands of the coming stage.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Mostafa El-Naggar, Head of the Housing and Utilities Sector, Engineer Rania Mounir, Head of the Central Administration for Housing Affairs, as well as a number of general directors within the sector.
