The Directorate of Roads and Transport in Ismailia announced the completion of the second phase of the development project for the Social Housing area in Mostakbal City. The works included paving 19,000 square meters of main streets with asphalt and installing 24,000 square meters of interlocking tiles on side streets and sidewalks.
In addition, maintenance and replacement of drainage downspouts and inspection chambers were carried out for 65 residential buildings. The phase also involved landscaping, constructing embankments, and creating special chambers for rainwater drainage. Furthermore, concrete barriers were built along both sides of the Mostakbal–Manaief Bridge, stretching 1.3 kilometers, with a total cost of 34 million Egyptian pounds.
In this context, Major General Akram Galal, Governor of Ismailia, followed up on the directorate’s works within the investment plan for the fiscal year 2025–2026. This phase includes the initiation of the construction of a pedestrian bridge at Barid Al-Rayah over the Port Said Canal to facilitate citizens’ movement between both banks of the canal.
The project comes as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at developing infrastructure and improving road networks, thereby contributing to sustainable development and providing a decent quality of life for the residents of the governorate. It also enhances road quality and boosts traffic safety, directly supporting transportation within Ismailia.
