Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, along with Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the replacement and renovation project of Rommel Bridge in Matrouh Governorate. The project is being implemented by the Central Agency for Reconstruction under the Ministry, through the North-West Coast Reconstruction Authority, in the presence of a number of officials from the ministry and the governorate.
During the tour, the Minister and the Governor reviewed the ongoing construction works on the bridge, which extends 28 meters in length and 16 meters in width. The bridge connects the northern part of Matrouh City with the Al-Lisan area located north of Alam El-Roum Bay. The primary goal of the project is to enhance the structural safety of the bridge and extend its lifespan, in addition to boosting its traffic capacity to facilitate development in the area.
The new bridge is designed to include four traffic lanes—two in each direction—which increases capacity to about 1,500 vehicles per lane, representing a significant improvement compared to the previous situation. The project also involves the development of the surrounding area, including pedestrian walkways, green spaces, and recreational areas.
During his visit, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized the need to accelerate construction works to complete the project as quickly as possible while adhering to the specified timeline.
