Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the completion of the expansion project for the Belqas Water Plant in Dakahlia Governorate and the construction of the Dakmira Water Plant in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. This achievement comes as part of the ministry’s efforts, represented by the National Authority for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, to develop the water and wastewater sector and enhance service quality.
The minister explained that finalizing these projects falls within the ministry’s strategy to accelerate project execution and put them into operation, ensuring maximum benefit from investments and delivering essential services to citizens, thereby contributing to an improved quality of life.
For his part, Major General Amin Shawky, Chairman of the National Authority for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, noted that the Belqas Water Plant expansion project in Dakahlia Governorate is being implemented with a design capacity of 34,000 cubic meters per day and a total cost of EGP 289 million. The project serves around 40,000 people in the city of Belqas and nearby villages.
He added that the Dakmira Water Plant in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate operates with a production capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day and a total cost of EGP 120 million. This project aims to provide services to approximately 25,000 people in various areas, including Dakmira, El-Shishini, El-Mohateb, Zahran, El-Zawy, El-Ettehad, El-Sarayya, El-Omda, Salam, Abu El-Nasr, El-Khademiya, and Ezbet Khamis.
