Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has been monitoring the progress of various housing, infrastructure, and urban development projects. This comes based on field reports and inspection tours conducted by officials from city development authorities.
In a statement issued today, the minister emphasized the government’s strong focus on developing Upper Egypt through a wide range of residential, service, and integrated utility projects. These initiatives aim to raise living standards and promote prosperity for citizens in the region.
He also stressed the importance of accelerating the pace of work on ongoing projects, particularly those that have a direct impact on the daily lives of residents. The minister called for more frequent inspection tours, the prompt resolution of implementation challenges, strict adherence to project timelines, and the maintenance of the highest possible quality standards.
New Assiut: Continued Efforts to Improve Services and Projects
Engineer Yasser Abdullah, Head of the New Assiut City Authority, conducted an inspection tour of several ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure and services. The tour covered:

Infrastructure Development in Northwestern Expansion Areas: Work is progressing on utilities across 1,304 feddans to provide services for residential plots and eliminate potential obstacles.

Phase One of the Middle-Income Housing Project “Diarna”: Construction is being monitored closely with a strong emphasis on accelerating progress and adhering to set timelines.

Construction of a Potable Water Treatment Plant: With a design capacity of 52,000 cubic meters per day, the plant includes multiple structures such as filters, clarifiers, and pumping stations to ensure a safe and adequate water supply.

Southeastern Expansion Area Development: Spanning 375 feddans, efforts include general site organization, enhancement of green spaces, and road upgrades to align with the city’s modern urban character.

Oversight of the “Housing for All Egyptians” Project: Spanning 26 feddans, the project focuses on applying quality standards at every stage of finishing and infrastructure development to meet citizens’ needs efficiently and effectively.
New Sohag: Enhancing Residential Areas and Infrastructure Development
Engineer Sherif Abdel-Badea, Head of the New Sohag City Authority, oversaw development works in the First Family Housing Area, where curbs and sidewalks are being installed as part of a broader upgrade plan. He announced the commencement of works in the “Build Your Home 2” and “Family” zones, with plans in place to shift to other areas once the current phase is complete.
New Akhmim: Road Network Upgrades and Water System Improvements
Engineer Mostafa Harb, Head of the New Akhmim City Authority, inspected a series of key infrastructure projects, including:

Asphalt Layering in Social Housing Areas: Works involve applying the subgrade, base layer, MCO layer, and final surface layer to provide a durable and high-quality road network.

Monitoring of the Mobile Water Station: This 2,500-square-meter station operates with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per day. Additionally, the city is enhancing the “booster” pumping station to improve operational efficiency and ensure high-quality water delivery to residents.
