Eng. Abdel Raouf El-Ghaity, Head of the New Cairo City Development Authority, accompanied by a team of officials, conducted an inspection tour to oversee the progress of the electrical distribution project in the Sixth District and infrastructure works in the city’s southern extension. This visit is part of ongoing field tours to monitor the implementation of development projects across the city, in line with the directives of Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.
During the tour, the Authority Head emphasized that the project is one of the strategic undertakings currently being implemented as part of the national plan to enhance infrastructure and utilities in new urban areas.
He pointed out that efforts are being intensified to accelerate the workflow and ensure the provision of adequate electrical supply to vital projects, notably the Islamic Missions City affiliated with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. Additionally, the project aims to temporarily support the residential zone in the Sixth District with electricity until the main transformer stations are completed.
El-Ghaity explained that the electrical distributor will be powered by two independent sources to guarantee service continuity. The first source is from the “Associations” transformer station via four circuits, while the second is supplied by the “Wataniya” transformer station, also through four circuits. This dual-feed system increases network reliability and ensures stable electricity supply.
He noted that the implementation phase of the project has reached a moderate level of completion, with plans to finalize the work and commission the electrical distributor by the end of October. The city authority continues to monitor the progress of construction work on-site daily to ensure adherence to the designated timeline.
From his side, Eng. Hesham Mohamed Ali, General Manager of the Electricity Department at the Authority, stated that the project is being executed in accordance with the highest technical standards. He noted the adoption of a dual-circuit system for the power cables extending from both transformer stations, which significantly boosts the safety and stability of electricity services, especially amid the urban expansion taking place in the Sixth District.
