Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny and Governor of Dakahlia Tarek Marzouk concluded their inspection tour with a visit to the Mit Khamis Water Treatment Plant and the Central Laboratory in Dakahlia. This visit falls within the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve essential public services.
The tour included a detailed presentation on the station, whose first phase began in 1998 and became operational in 2001 with a capacity of 102,000 cubic meters per day. In 2015, the plant underwent expansions that doubled its capacity to 204,000 cubic meters per day. The station now supplies water to the city of Mansoura, parts of Talkha and Aga cities, and many villages affiliated with the Mansoura district, serving around one million residents.
During their visit, Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny and the Governor of Dakahlia also toured the station’s Central Laboratory to learn about its internal operations, including the water sampling and testing system. The laboratory conducts water analysis every two hours to ensure the treated water complies with international standards.
Notably, the station successfully renewed its Technical Sustainable Management (T.S.M.) certification for the fifth time in 2020/2021. This certification highlights the company’s commitment to the highest standards of quality and operational efficiency in managing and maintaining the facility—an achievement that reflects the company’s outstanding performance.
At the end of the visit, the Minister of Housing praised the current state of the station and the quality of its periodic maintenance. He also commended the Central Laboratory’s operational model as an exemplary system to be emulated. The tour was attended by representatives from water and wastewater companies and relevant authorities.
