Sherif El-Sherbiny, followed up on the results of campaigns aimed at detecting and removing illegal water connections and collecting outstanding dues in new cities. These efforts are being carried out in cooperation with the police as part of a broader plan to rationalize water and energy consumption. The minister emphasized the importance of continuing these campaigns to preserve state resources and improve public services.
In New Nobariya City, the unauthorized connections committee launched a campaign targeting water violations. The campaign led to the detection of illegal connections and tampered meters. Violators were issued official reports. Meanwhile, Eng. Marwa Hussein, Head of the Sheikh Zayed City Development Authority, announced the continuation of such campaigns in collaboration with the Construction Police. The operations have revealed and removed illegal connections in Badr El Din buildings, in addition to checking water meters and collecting overdue payments.
Eng. Marwa Hussein stressed that these campaigns aim to reduce water loss and limit the theft of drinking water, underlining that there will be zero tolerance for infringements on utility networks. Fines will be imposed, and dealings with violating units will be suspended.
In New Beni Suef City, the unauthorized connections committee, in cooperation with the Construction Police, launched a campaign that uncovered 16 illegal water connections being used without meters. Legal steps are being taken to regularize the status of violators.
Eng. Ahmed Abdel Gaber, Head of the New Beni Suef City Authority, confirmed the ongoing nature of these campaigns to detect and eliminate illegal water connections and remove network violations, with a strong focus on collecting outstanding payments.
Similarly, Eng. Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the New Minya City Authority, pointed to a campaign targeting unauthorized water connections and the repair of malfunctioning meters, in cooperation with the Construction Police. The campaign focused on critical areas and led to the detection of 17 illegal connections, 6 unmetered connections, and 5 faulty meters. A plan is in place to expand the campaign to cover additional residential units.
