Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting to follow up on the National Strategy for Urban Development and Green, Sustainable Construction. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority. During the session, attendees reviewed the progress of the strategy’s implementation and discussed the roles of partner entities to ensure the realization of more efficient and sustainable urban development models.
The Minister emphasized the importance of preparing a comprehensive implementation plan that includes mechanisms for application along with technical and legislative parameters. The meeting also addressed strategic goals aimed at promoting green real estate projects, improving the efficiency of resource usage, and supporting sustainable urban growth.
A set of incentive packages was discussed, designed to encourage real estate developers and beneficiaries. These incentives were developed based on local and international studies and experiences. They include tax exemptions, financing facilities, and streamlined procedures. The meeting also reviewed projects intended to apply green construction and urban development incentives, including integrated development projects as well as government and residential buildings.
The Minister concluded the meeting by instructing task forces to develop a clear implementation roadmap with a defined timeline, paving the way for an official announcement of the strategy details and launch schedule.
