Partial Operation of Phase Two and Integration into Service at New Cairo Water Treatment Plant

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, has announced the commencement of partial operation of the second phase of the New Cairo Drinking Water Treatment Plant. This step increases the plant’s production capacity to 600,000 cubic meters per day. Once both phases are fully completed, the total output is expected to reach 1 million cubic meters per day. This expansion is part of the ministry’s strategic plan to meet the growing demand for water, especially during the summer months.

Engineer Abdel Raouf El-Ghaiti, Head of the New Cairo City Development Authority, inspected the readiness of the second phase and emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous water flow and ensuring high production quality.

El-Ghaiti clarified that the total design capacity of the second phase of the New Cairo Water Treatment Plant reaches 500,000 cubic meters per day and will be gradually put into operation to meet the city’s needs and accommodate its rapid population and urban growth. It is noteworthy that this initiative aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and provide sustainable essential services, ensuring it keeps pace with the accelerated urban development in New Cairo.
