The Housing Committee of the House of Representatives, chaired by MP Mohamed Attia El-Fayoumi, has approved two draft laws: one linking the state’s general budget and the other for the development plan for the fiscal year 2025/2026, specifically concerning the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund.
The estimated budget for the fund in the 2025/2026 fiscal year is approximately EGP 75 billion, marking an increase of EGP 14 billion from the current fiscal year 2024/2025, which stood at EGP 61 billion. The estimated current expenditures of the fund reached EGP 30.3 billion, up EGP 9 billion from EGP 21.3 billion this year.
The total estimated investment plan for the fund for FY 2025/2026 is around EGP 45 billion, compared to EGP 40 billion allocated for FY 2024/2025, reflecting an increase of EGP 5 billion. Additionally, the draft general budget for the Social Housing Fund shows a rise in current expenditures for the 2025/2026 fiscal year by EGP 14.03 billion. The interest payments item also saw a notable increase, climbing from EGP 4.37 billion in 2024/2025 to EGP 7.85 billion in 2025/2026—an increase of EGP 3.47 billion.
