Deputy Minister of Housing Inspects Chinese Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipe Factory

Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, conducted a tour of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, during which he inspected the Chinese Xinxing factory specializing in the production of ductile iron pipes. Accompanying him were senior officials from the Ministry, representatives from various agencies, as well as delegates from Xinxing Company and the Arab Contractors Company. Dr. Ismail reviewed the different manufacturing stages of the pipes, starting from the assembly of local components to efficiency testing, and was briefed on the company’s global project experience and its aspirations to collaborate with local firms.

Dr. Sayed Ismail highlighted the importance of the Xinxing factory in localizing the production of ductile iron pipes, which are essential for infrastructure projects. This contributes to reducing import costs and opens up opportunities to export products to African nations and the Gulf region. During the visit, the Deputy Minister examined the production lines and received a detailed explanation about the factory, which spans 270,500 square meters in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The factory represents an investment of $150 million, provides 700 direct jobs and 220 indirect ones, and has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons of ductile iron pipes.

The Deputy Minister expressed his satisfaction with the inauguration of the first phase of the factory, affirming the Ministry’s ongoing support for the state’s strategy to open new markets both locally and internationally. He emphasized the significance of exporting to African and Gulf countries at competitive prices, with a focus on boosting demand for local products. He also expressed confidence in serious investments and looked forward to further investment opportunities across Egypt’s 27 governorates and 44 new cities.
