Housing Minister and Giza Governor Inaugurate First Phase of Osim Drinking Water Station

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, and Engineer Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, inaugurated the first phase of the Osim Drinking Water Station with a production capacity of 60,000 m³/day. The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Housing and Giza Governorate, as well as members of parliament. Minister El-Sherbiny expressed his happiness with the opening, affirming the ministry’s commitment to completing projects that directly impact citizens’ lives.

Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of the proper operation and maintenance of the new station following its inauguration. He praised the high-quality execution of the project’s first phase and extended his gratitude to the working teams from the Ministry of Housing and Giza Governorate. On his part, the Governor of Giza highlighted the significance of the drinking water and sanitation sector in improving the daily services provided to citizens. He noted significant progress in infrastructure projects, with a current daily water supply rate reaching approximately 3 million m³ of clean water.

The Minister of Housing and the Giza Governor reviewed the performance of the water and wastewater system, which includes 81 water stations with a total capacity of 3.4 million m³/day and 40 pumping stations, along with 8,192 kilometers of water networks. They also followed up on the sanitation system, which comprises 5 treatment plants with a total capacity of 2.4 million m³/day, 92 pumping stations, and 4,965 kilometers of sewage networks. The minister directed that the province’s needs be studied and plans developed accordingly. During the visit, they inspected the components of the station, including the electronic monitoring system and operations in the chemical laboratory. The minister stressed the importance of digital report logging and regular maintenance.
