Housing Minister and Sharqia Governor Inspect Progress at Shalshalmoon Wastewater Treatment Plant

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, and Engineer Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharqia, conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the progress of potable water and sanitation projects in the governorate. The tour included a meeting held at the Shalshalmoon Wastewater Treatment Plant, attended by officials from the Ministry of Housing and the National Authority for Potable Water and Sewage.

The minister reviewed the operational status of the drinking water system, which consists of 205 stations with a total production capacity of 1.3 million cubic meters per day. The system currently achieves 100% coverage in urban areas and 99% in rural areas. Discussions also covered the wastewater management system, which includes 42 treatment plants with a combined capacity of 454,000 cubic meters per day, 135 main pumping stations, and a sewer network spanning 3,067 kilometers.

The Minister of Housing directed that a comprehensive plan be developed to meet the current and future needs for potable water and sanitation in Sharqia Governorate. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the operational timelines of completed stations and stressed the need for continuous coordination with the governor to accelerate project implementation in both cities and villages.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the working teams from the ministry, the governorate, and members of parliament for their efforts. He also thanked the governor for his dedicated follow-up on the projects and for removing obstacles to better serve the residents. The minister concluded by expressing pride in being a native of Sharqia Governorate.
