Minister of Housing: “Decent Life” Initiative Provides Citizens with a Better Standard of Living

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, confirmed that the ministry is working to provide a wide range of services to citizens as part of its responsibility and public service role, with the aim of improving the standard of living. This comes within the framework of the presidential initiative Decent Life for the development of rural areas.

These statements came during a tour conducted by the minister yesterday, accompanied by Engineer Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharqia. During the visit, the minister inspected several service projects in the governorate. He began by inspecting the “Mit Gaber” sewage project in Belbeis Center, which is part of the second phase of the presidential initiative. The governor emphasized that the state attaches great importance to implementing developmental and service projects, especially in the fields of drinking water and sanitation, and is working hard to secure the necessary financial allocations.

During their inspection of the Mit Gaber sewage project, the Minister of Housing and the Governor of Sharqia listened to a detailed briefing from Major General Amin Shawky. It was explained that the project, costing 150 million EGP, includes a gravity sewer network stretching 7.445 kilometers, a lifting station, a one-kilometer pressure line, and a treatment plant with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters per day to serve the villages of Mit Gaber, El-Saraya, El-Zahria, in addition to Beni Saleh village. The project will benefit approximately 25,000 residents. The gravity network, lifting station, and pressure line have been completed, and preliminary acceptance procedures are underway. Meanwhile, the gravity sewer network for El-Saraya and El-Zahria villages has reached 95% completion, and the civil works for the lifting station have reached 55%.
