Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, concluded his tour in New Alamein City with a meeting with Dr. Ibrahim Khaled, Chairman of the Matrouh Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, to follow up on the progress of the water and sanitation system in preparation for the summer season. During the meeting, the overall capacity to supply the governorate with 475,000 m³ per day was reviewed, along with the status of six seawater desalination plants with a total capacity of 205,000 m³ per day, in addition to five well water desalination plants and six wastewater treatment plants in Marsa Matrouh.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny also followed up on efforts to improve performance and enhance service levels through customer service centers, with a focus on upgrading drinking water and sanitation services. The Matrouh Drinking Water and Sanitation Company has established 12 advanced customer service centers and installed 59,120 prepaid water meters, achieving a coverage rate of 56%. The quality monitoring system was also improved, with the central laboratory being equipped and 11 branch laboratories established. As a result, 98% of drinking water samples met quality standards.
