Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, continued his inspection tour in the city of Saint Catherine. He visited two major projects: the expansion and dualization of the road from Saint Catherine Airport to the Al-Nabi Saleh checkpoint, and the upgrading and widening of the road from the checkpoint to the Visitor Center building. These projects are part of the comprehensive development plan for the “Great Manifestation” site on the Land of Peace in Saint Catherine, accompanied by several officials from the ministry and the Central Agency for Reconstruction.
The Minister and his team reviewed the ongoing work on both roads, which aim to improve and upgrade the road network to facilitate traffic flow and enhance the efficiency of infrastructure and utility systems. The works also include flood prevention measures, taking into account the natural flood paths in the master plan design of the city. This ensures that these natural elements contribute positively to the city’s pathway network and site coordination in Saint Catherine.
The Minister directed for the swift completion of landscaping, traffic islands, and lighting works along the two roads and at the Al-Nabi Saleh checkpoint, with an intensified work pace. Currently, efforts are underway to upgrade and widen the 9-kilometer road from the Al-Nabi Saleh checkpoint to the Visitor Center, in addition to expanding and dualizing the 7-kilometer road from Saint Catherine Airport to the checkpoint, with a width of 12.8 meters in each direction.
