Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund, announced the commencement of issuing certificates for applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians 5” due to owning an electricity meter. The issuance period runs from April 30 to May 18. SMS messages have been sent to the affected applicants containing a link to view details of the electricity meters registered in their names. Additionally, they have been granted an extended period to submit appeals.
Citizens who are ineligible because they own an electricity meter can visit their personal page on the provided electronic link to review their meter information, which has been available since May 4. A source from the Ministry of Electricity explained that, to facilitate the process, applicants wishing to file an appeal must print the screen displaying their status from the online portal, then visit the relevant electricity company. There, they should present the printed screen along with a request to issue a certificate and show their national ID card to the responsible employee, who will issue the certificate immediately.
A responsible source at the Ministry of Electricity confirmed that all electricity companies across the country have received instructions to issue the required certificates within 48 hours. These certificates are to be delivered to citizens so they can attach them to their appeals through the Social Housing Fund’s website. On another note, Mai Abdel Hamid clarified that the period for submitting appeals has ended, except for applicants who own electricity meters or those who received SMS notifications.
