Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, continued his inspection tour in New Cairo, where he reviewed the ongoing works to upgrade and enhance the efficiency of the North 90th Axis. He was accompanied by officials from the Ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the city’s administrative body.
During the tour, the minister followed up on the progress of work along the North 90th Axis. Engineer Abdel Raouf El-Ghaity, Head of the New Cairo Authority, explained that the development project stretches from its intersection with the Suez Road to its junction with El-Sadat Axis, covering a distance of approximately 5.4 kilometers.
The project includes upgrading the capacity of both main directions and redesigning the horizontal alignment to make the width of each direction 14.5 meters. Four traffic lanes will be allocated in each direction, with acceleration and deceleration lanes provided at turning points. Additionally, the road will be operated using Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) technology with cement, which improves the roadbed properties and reduces costs by 28% to 40% compared to traditional methods.
The Head of the Authority added that the project will also include the construction of service lanes, the upgrading of sidewalks, and landscaping in the central median.
