The Steering Committee Meeting for the Technical Support for Sludge Management Project

Dr. Sayed Ismail chaired the steering committee meeting for the preparatory technical support project for sludge management in Egypt, managed by the Project Management Unit at the Ministry of Housing in cooperation with the European Investment Bank. The project aims to protect public health, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.

The meeting was attended by several officials, including Dr. Mohamed Hassan and Engineer Ahmed Abdelkader. During the meeting, Dr. Ismail emphasized the importance of sludge management in Egypt and the need to utilize it instead of disposing of it, highlighting the state’s direction towards enhancing partnerships with the private sector in infrastructure projects.

The project consultant presented an overview of the project’s objectives and the current status of the study, including the timeline and planned activities. It was agreed to hold monthly meetings to monitor the progress of implementation. Officials from the European Investment Bank praised the Ministry of Housing’s efforts in supporting drinking water and sanitation projects, reaffirming their strong interest in the project. The Deputy Minister of Housing stressed the importance of continuing efforts to achieve the project’s goals and to support the Ministry in sludge management in Egypt.
