Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, affirmed the ongoing cooperation with Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity, concerning the rejected applicants under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians 5” due to their ownership of an electricity meter. El-Sherbiny explained that this collaboration has led to meetings between officials from the Housing Fund and the Ministry of Electricity to establish mechanisms that ease the process for citizens to obtain the required verification documents from electricity companies, thereby enabling them to complete their paperwork for review by the Fund.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny further stated that these meetings have resulted in a review of the data of applicants who did not meet the announcement criteria. This review is being conducted by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company in cooperation with the electricity distribution companies. The information of subscribers who own an electricity meter will be sent to the Social Housing Fund and will include their national ID number, activity type, and the name of the distribution company. Additionally, the Fund will send SMS messages to applicants who did not meet the conditions, containing details about the distribution company, the appeal period dates, and a link for more information.
Mrs. Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing Fund, confirmed that the rejection of applicants due to their ownership of utility meters aligns with the conditions of the Social Housing Program, which prohibits applicants or their families from owning a residential unit. She pointed out that the Fund continues to coordinate with the relevant authorities to facilitate the submission of appeals within the designated timeframe.
Mrs. Mai Abdel Hamid also announced that the Fund will begin sending text messages to targeted citizens starting April 30. Citizens will be able to visit the Fund’s website beginning May 4 to access information related to their electricity meters. An additional period will be opened for receiving appeals from citizens who own electricity meters, which will run from May 4 to May 18, 2025. As for the appeal period for other rejected applicants, it will remain as previously scheduled, ending on April 24, 2025.
