Restoration of the Facades of 144 Cracked Buildings on Alexandria’s Corniche

The Cabinet has approved Alexandria Governorate’s contract with the Arab Contractors Company to restore 144 cracked buildings along Alexandria’s Corniche. Additionally, the Cabinet has endorsed the announcement of the “Housing for All Egyptians 7” initiative, which includes 115,000 housing units—100,000 designated for low-income individuals and 15,000 for middle-income individuals. During its meeting on March 26, 2025, the Cabinet also approved the new budget plan for 2025/2026, estimating revenues at EGP 3.1 trillion and expenditures at EGP 4.6 trillion.

Summary of the New Budget Plan

The new budget aims to achieve a primary surplus of EGP 795 billion, representing 4% of the GDP while reducing the debt of public budget entities to 82.9%. The focus is on increasing spending in healthcare, education, social protection, and supporting productive and export-oriented sectors.

The government has adhered to the constitutional mandate for spending on education, healthcare, and scientific research. A total of EGP 679.1 billion has been allocated for employee salaries, reflecting an annual growth of 18.1%. Additionally, EGP 22 billion has been designated for medicines, EGP 12.4 billion for raw materials, EGP 11 billion for medical supplies, EGP 2.8 billion for medical equipment maintenance, and EGP 5 billion for therapeutic medicines and infant formula.

Furthermore, EGP 8.3 billion has been allocated to support the tourism sector, EGP 5 billion for priority industrial activities, EGP 3 billion for the initiative to convert vehicles to operate on natural gas, and between EGP 3 billion and EGP 5 billion in cash incentives for medium and small enterprises.
