593 Priority Projects in the New Housing Plan

Between development projects, Corniche expansion, and the establishment of new stations, 593 priority projects have been included in the state’s plan for the housing, utilities, and urban communities sector.

Inclusion of Priority Projects in the Housing Plan

This was announced during the Cabinet meeting yesterday, where Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, presented the key features of the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year (2025/2026).

593 Priority Projects in the New Housing Plan

Regarding the housing and utilities sector within the infrastructure and industrial development pillar, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat stated that the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities aims to complete the following projects under this plan:

  • 121 water station projects

  • 351 sanitation projects in cities and villages

  • 17 desalination plant projects

  • 94 wastewater treatment plant projects

  • Completion of the General Kamel Amer Axis in Giza

  • The western arc project of the General Omar Suleiman Axis on the Ring Road in Alexandria

  • Establishment of 5 urban development clusters in North Sinai

  • The July 26 Axis project up to its intersection with the desert road

  • The Sadat Axis bridge connecting the International Coastal Road in Alexandria

  • Expansion of the Corniche Road by 4.4 km from Al Montazah to the Naval Forces Hotel (Al-Mahrousa)

During the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Rania Al-Mashat reviewed the key features of the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2025/2026. The plan aims to direct public investments toward priority projects to support sustainable development. Additionally, a new conceptual framework and methodology for preparing the plan were introduced, focusing on Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the government’s work program for 2024/2025 – 2026/2027.

The plan also addresses the National Program for Structural Reforms and the State Ownership Policy Document, while activating Planning Law No. 18 of 2022, aligning with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the African Agenda 2063. The objective is to transform the goals outlined in these visions into an annual development plan encompassing all development sectors.

The minister also reviewed global economic growth indicators and forecasts, along with Egypt’s economic indicators and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Furthermore, she presented estimates for economic growth rates for the periods 2025/2026 and 2028/2029, comparing the structure of investments in the 2025/2026 plan with previous years.
