Inspection of Sewage Lift Stations and Drinking Water Treatment Facilities

Eng. Marwa Hussein, Head of Sheikh Zayed City Authority, conducted an inspection tour of the city’s sewage lift stations and drinking water treatment facilities. The visit aimed to ensure the efficiency and readiness of these stations, and it was accompanied by several authority officials and station representatives.

The tour included visiting the East City Sewage Lift Station, which has a design capacity of 57,000 cubic meters per day and serves districts (17, 15, 14, 13). During the visit, the Head of the Authority and her accompanying team inspected the pump chamber to assess the efficiency of the operation panels and examined the generator building. Additionally, they visited the SODIC sewage lift station, which has a design capacity of 17,000 cubic meters per day and serves District 17 in SODIC. The team inspected the pump chamber and all station components.

The Head of the Authority emphasized the importance of ensuring the readiness of all sewage stations and improving their operational efficiency. This is essential for managing emergencies in the city, particularly during rainfall and other unexpected events.

Eng. Marwa Hussein and her team also visited the city’s drinking water treatment plant, which has a production capacity of 575,000 cubic meters per day and serves Sheikh Zayed City and parts of 6th of October City and its expansions. During the visit, she reviewed the progress of water purification processes, inspected the chlorine and pump chambers, and monitored the facility’s landscaping, curbstone maintenance, and site coordination. She also observed ongoing upgrades, including efficiency improvements for clarifiers and filters, as part of the approved periodic maintenance plan.

The Head of Sheikh Zayed City Authority stressed the importance of regular maintenance and preventive measures across the system’s components to ensure a continuous, high-quality water supply meeting standard specifications. She affirmed the necessity of conducting regular site visits to monitor the stations, address workers’ challenges, and guarantee sustainable services to residents.
