Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, followed up on the water outage crisis in Luxor City caused by a sudden break in two sewer lines. The Minister directed the immediate intervention of the drinking water and sanitation companies in Qena, Sohag, Fayoum, and Giza, in addition to the Cairo Drinking Water Company and the Arab Contractors Company, to carry out the necessary repairs on the 1000 mm sewage discharge pipeline, ensuring all required equipment is available to complete the work swiftly.

The Minister of Housing also instructed that Luxor’s residents’ need for potable water be secured until the repair works are completed. Twelve drinking water trucks have been provided in the city, along with an additional four trucks supplied by the governorate.

Additionally, the Minister ordered the urgent dispatch of a delegation from the ministry’s leadership to Luxor Governorate. The delegation includes Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Head of the Regulatory Authority for Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Consumer Protection; and Engineer Tarek El-Refai, Assistant Minister of Housing for Utilities Affairs. The delegation’s goal is to oversee the repair of the 700 mm and 1000 mm pipelines and provide periodic reports until the repairs are completed and the water supply is restored for citizens.
