Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny is closely monitoring the developments of the water outage crisis in Luxor, which resulted from a sudden break in two main sewage pipelines.
He has ordered the immediate intervention of drinking water and sanitation companies from several governorates, in addition to the Arab Contractors Company, to expedite excavation and repair work.
The minister also emphasized securing residents’ access to safe drinking water. As part of the emergency response, 12 water supply trucks have been provided in Luxor, and four additional trucks from the governorate.
As part of on-site follow-ups, the minister assigned a delegation of senior ministry officials to travel to Luxor to oversee the repair of the two 700mm and 1000mm pipelines and ensure that service is restored as quickly as possible.
