The Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, has announced the opening of applications for industrial investors in new cities who have exceeded their allocated water consumption limits. This initiative aims to regularize their status by increasing their designated water quota, provided they submit a commitment to settle financial dues according to the city authority’s assessment. Investors applying within three months of the announcement date will be exempt from previous financial claims.
Dr. Hassan El-Shorbagi, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority, confirmed that industrial establishments will be relieved from past financial obligations related to excess water consumption.
Dr. El-Shorbagi further explained that the authority will handle factories exceeding their regulated water consumption by the rules approved by the Board of Directors during its session on January 28, 2025. If any excess water consumption is detected after the grace period without prior application, a compensation fee of 15% of the calculated value will be imposed for the additional usage.
