As part of the 2025 strategic plan update, the General Authority for Urban Planning, in collaboration with Minya Governorate, has discussed modernizing the strategic plan for Mallawi and Maghagha. This update aims to enhance urban planning across Egyptian towns. Engineer Magdy Rabie participated in a meeting to initiate the update process, with the project seeking to establish a comprehensive urban vision that meets residents’ needs and improves quality of life through infrastructure development, enhanced services, and prioritization of key development projects.
The meeting addressed urban, environmental, and demographic changes in both cities and assessed infrastructure and essential service requirements up to 2030. The project team presented an overview of the study’s objectives and implementation phases, emphasizing the importance of participatory planning and leveraging previous studies to tackle social, economic, and urban challenges.
It was agreed to continue data collection and commence urban surveys according to a set timeline, ensuring sustainable development while keeping pace with future advancements. Several officials attended the meeting, including Engineer Huda Abdel Moneim, Dr. Saeed Hassanein, and Dr. Hossam Sami Amer, along with representatives from the North Upper Egypt region, the Urban Planning Department, and city and district heads.
