The El Shorouk City Authority, led by Engineer Bassam Mohamed El-Sheikh, has launched a large-scale campaign to remove encroachments and illegal activities within the city. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Colonel Ahmed El-Manawy, Chief of the Urban Development Police, and Captain Khaled Mahmoud from the Public Utilities Police.
Clearing Market Violations
The campaign targeted commercial markets in key areas, including Sector D2 in the Second District Service Center, A2 in the Second District, and North of the Sixth District in the Eighth District. The aim was to restore order within these marketplaces.
As a result, authorities issued 22 violation reports for occupying public spaces and operating without licenses. Additionally, eight street vendors were removed, and unauthorized structures, including non-compliant awnings, were dismantled to clear pedestrian pathways.
Urban Development and Beautification Efforts
In parallel with the enforcement campaign, El Shorouk City Authority continues to develop major city landmarks, including:
- Engineer Sherif Ismail Square
- Al-Kamanja Square
- Dr. Magdi Yacoub Square
- World Cup Square
These projects are being executed by teams from the city’s agriculture and maintenance departments.
Enhancing Public Services and Cleanliness
Engineer Bassam Mohamed El-Sheikh emphasized the need to improve urban services, directing responsible authorities and service companies to:
- Enhance waste collection and cleanliness around buildings and streets
- Increase and standardize garbage bins near residential and commercial areas
- Maintain flower beds, public seating, and street lighting
He reaffirmed the commitment to preserving the city’s modern and well-organized appearance, ensuring that El Shorouk remains one of the leading new urban developments in Egypt.
