Minister of Housing Inspects Work Progress at “New Garden City” and Major Roads in New Administrative Capital

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted a field visit to monitor the progress of the Fifth Residential Neighborhood (R5) “New Garden City” and several key roads and axes in the New Administrative Capital. He was accompanied by ministry officials, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the executing companies.

El-Sherbiny explained that the Fifth Residential Neighborhood, covering approximately 900 acres, is being developed based on an architectural design inspired by the classical French style, similar to the designs found in the Garden City area in downtown Cairo. The project includes 385 residential buildings with around 21,494 housing units, 513 commercial units, and 459 villas (connected, semi-connected, and standalone). It will also provide a full range of educational, recreational, commercial, sports, and religious services.

The project features a main “Boulevard” road stretching about 5.25 km, along with 37 km of internal roads.

During his visit, the minister reviewed the internal finishes of the units and inspected key roads in the capital, including the South Teseen Road and the Mohamed Bin Zayed South Axis, known for its impressive design and alignment with the substantial progress being made in various projects within the New Administrative Capital.

The minister instructed a review of the facades and lighting of the buildings, emphasizing the use of locally produced materials for the ongoing projects. He also stressed the importance of completing the project as quickly as possible, ensuring the completion of road surfaces, islands, and landscaping works, along with establishing a detailed timeline for all project tasks.

Furthermore, El-Sherbiny directed the preparation of plans for service projects within the development and urged faster work on the villa area, with a focus on accelerating construction and monitoring progress through regular on-site checks. He also called for the completion of the roads and axes surrounding the Fifth Residential Neighborhood (R5).
