New Damietta City Authority Enhances Services and Enforces Urban Order

Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, Chairman of the New Damietta City Authority, visited the city’s technological center for utilities and water revenues to oversee the facilitation of service procedures and the completion of the prepaid meter replacement initiative. This visit aligns with the directives of Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to improve service delivery and streamline operations within the utilities sector of Egypt’s new cities.

Engineer Mahmoud emphasized the importance of fully adhering to water revenue collection protocols and taking necessary measures to maintain efficient operations while ensuring high-quality services. He also directed that support be provided to the center’s staff to expedite service delivery and enhance citizen satisfaction.

In a related initiative, Mahmoud announced the launch of an extensive campaign to remove encroachments and violations in the second district of the city, aimed at eliminating informal and random practices. The campaign was coordinated with the Damietta Security Directorate and the city’s construction police.

The efforts resulted in the issuance of 21 immediate violation reports, along with the removal of a large number of various encroachments, including street vendors and illegal constructions by shop owners and cafes on green spaces and urban boundaries. These materials were confiscated, and the necessary legal procedures were initiated.

Engineer Mahmoud assured that the campaign to eliminate violations would continue across all neighborhoods of the city, emphasizing that there would be no leniency with offenders until all informal phenomena are eradicated. This initiative is part of the city’s commitment to maintaining its aesthetic and organized appearance.

The campaign was supervised by Engineer Salah Abdel Hadi, Deputy Chairman of the Authority, Engineer Assem El-Laban, General Supervisor of the Authority’s Development Department, Major General Yasser Shehata, Director of Security, and the team from the New Damietta City Police, in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
