Prime Minister Follows Up on National Housing and Development Projects

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with Housing and Urban Communities Minister Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny to review the progress of key national projects.

“Your Home in Egypt” Initiative

Minister El-Sherbiny presented the details of the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative targeting Egyptians living abroad. The initiative, set to launch in February 2025, will offer 5,055 residential units and villas in cities like New Alamein, the New Administrative Capital, New Mansoura, October 6, Sheikh Zayed, Magra El-Oyoun Wall, New Cairo, New Obour, and New Suez. The presentation highlighted the initiative’s eligibility criteria, incentives, and flexible payment options.

Presidential Housing Initiative

The minister provided updates on the “Sakan Lil-Masryeen (5)” program, aimed at providing housing for low- and middle-income citizens. Of the 78,730 units planned:

  • 23,958 units are ready for delivery in various governorates.
  • 12,990 units are ready for delivery in new cities.
  • 41,782 units will be completed within 36 months in new cities.

As of the booking deadline, 738,000 brochures were purchased, and 499,000 applicants have paid reservation fees.

In response, Prime Minister Madbouly praised citizens’ trust in the project and instructed the implementation of an additional 50,000 housing units for low-income individuals and youth, alongside the ongoing 50,000 units. He also directed the construction of 50,000 new units for middle-income citizens, to be offered for reservation.

Updates on Key Projects

  • New Alamein City: The minister reviewed progress on projects like beachfront towers, the downtown extension, the Latin Quarter, the Heritage City, and housing projects (“Sakan Lil-Masryeen” and “Sakan Misr”).
  • Marina Development: Investment opportunities include villas, chalets, and multi-use plots for tourism, hospitality, and commercial ventures.
  • Capital Projects: Updates included the Central Business District, Green River, residential neighborhoods, infrastructure, and landscaping.
  • Saint Catherine’s “Great Transfiguration” Project: El-Sherbiny shared updates on progress ahead of an on-site inspection.
  • Downtown Cairo Revitalization: Projects discussed included Maspero Triangle, Magra El-Oyoun Wall, Azbakeya Garden, Ahl Masr Walkway, and Fustat Gardens.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to timelines and ensuring quality across all projects to meet the nation’s development goals.
