In a positive development for citizens, the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund announced an extension of the previously granted deadline (as per the announcement published on January 19, 2024) for beneficiaries of the “Sakan Lil-Masryeen” social housing project. The new deadline for those who have signed and received their mortgage contracts but have yet to take possession of their housing units is now extended until the end of March 2025.
The Fund urged citizens to promptly visit their respective city authorities or housing directorates to finalize utility connections, sign delivery receipts, and take possession of their units by the new deadline. Failure to do so by the specified date will be considered a withdrawal from the contract, and legal measures will be taken to cancel the allocation and repossess the unit, as stated by the Housing Authority of Hadayek October City.
Social Housing Law Compliance
According to the Fund’s statement, this extension aligns with the provisions of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Law No. 93 of 2018 and its implementing decisions. These regulations mandate that beneficiaries must use their allocated social housing units as permanent and regular residences for themselves and their families.
The Fund emphasized the importance of adhering to this directive to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure the units serve their intended purpose.
