Minister of Housing Reviews Development Progress in Green Belt Area, 6th of October City

Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of infrastructure and road projects in the Green Belt area of 6th of October City, spanning approximately 10,200 acres.

The Minister highlighted that the Green Belt is one of the most significant developmental projects in the city, aiming to transform the area into a comprehensive urban community. This includes integrated residential, commercial, administrative, and service activities, alongside robust infrastructure development.

In parallel, Eng. Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, inspected the ongoing infrastructure and road works to ensure adherence to the timeline and the highest quality and safety standards.

During his tour, he provided updates on the utilities being constructed, including water, wastewater, irrigation systems, and roads. The Green Belt is divided into three zones:

  1. Zone 1 (4,500 acres):
    • Total utilities network: 236 km, including:
      • 76 km of water pipelines.
      • 78 km of irrigation networks.
      • 82 km of sewage and stormwater drainage, including thrust boring under Sumed pipeline corridors.
    • Road network: 85 km of primary and secondary roads.
    • Five sewage lifting stations.
  2. Zone 2 (2,200 acres):
    • Total utilities network: 138 km, including:
      • 43 km of water pipelines.
      • 38 km of irrigation networks.
      • 55 km of sewage and stormwater drainage.
    • Road network: 30 km.
  3. Zone 3 (3,500 acres):
    • Features 56 acres allocated for mixed-use projects, including integrated urban development, commercial, administrative, and educational facilities.

Eng. Mohamed Mostafa emphasized the importance of completing the work on schedule while maintaining the highest quality standards. He urged the teams and contractors to intensify efforts to achieve the project goals in line with the sustainable development vision for the area.
