Eng. Mona Abdel-Salam, Head of the Development Authority for the Maspero Triangle, Magra El-Oyoun, and Ahl Masr Walk, conducted a comprehensive field visit to Al-Azbakeya Garden to oversee its renovation as part of the broader development plan for Khedivial Cairo.
The visit aligns with directives from Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to ensure regular follow-ups on ongoing projects.
The garden’s development includes several key upgrades:
- Renovating the central lake with advanced electromechanical systems.
- Restoring historical features like the fountain.
- Rehabilitating old trees with necessary reinforcements.
- Refurbishing surrounding buildings, such as the Fencing Club and the historical theater access area.
During the tour, Abdel-Salam emphasized the importance of completing the work promptly and preparing the garden for its reopening. She also highlighted the need to maintain the greenery and finalize designated book vendor areas around the garden’s perimeter.
In addition, Abdel-Salam inspected the Maspero Triangle Alternative Housing Project, a key initiative to redevelop one of Egypt’s former largest informal settlements. The project aims to improve living standards, reduce congestion in central Cairo, and enhance urban infrastructure by incorporating multi-level parking garages and wide open spaces.
She reviewed the cleanliness and maintenance efforts in the housing project, ensuring the ongoing compliance of service providers. Abdel-Salam stressed the importance of consistent follow-ups to maintain optimal living conditions for the residents and surrounding community.
