Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, convened a meeting on Saturday evening to review the progress of strategic seawater desalination projects planned through 2050. The meeting also addressed the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater’s initiatives for renewing water networks to reduce losses and the ongoing implementation of prepaid water meter systems.
During the meeting, Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of advancing desalination projects as part of Egypt’s long-term water sustainability strategy. These initiatives aim to meet the growing demand for potable water across the country while promoting efficient water resource management.
The discussion also focused on the company’s efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade aging water networks, a key step toward minimizing water loss and ensuring better service for citizens. Additionally, the minister reviewed the rollout of prepaid water meters, highlighting their role in enhancing consumption monitoring and improving collection efficiency.
