New Alamein’s Iconic Tower: A Marvel of Engineering and Egypt-China Collaboration

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, underscored the Egyptian government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, as well as with Chinese companies. During a recent visit, Ni Hong, China’s Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s remarkable urban achievements, particularly in New Alamein City.

El-Sherbiny also provided details about the iconic tower currently under construction in New Alamein City, which is set to exceed 300 meters in height. The tower will consist of 67 floors and two underground levels, utilizing approximately 140,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete. Notably, the project features the largest concrete slab in Africa, measuring 19,600 cubic meters. The total land area for the project is around 463,000 square meters, with the podium covering approximately 96,000 square meters and each floor spanning about 3,000 square meters.

The minister described the construction of the tower’s concrete structure as a significant challenge due to its impressive height and distinctive Y-shaped design, which curves both vertically and horizontally. He praised the exceptional efforts and seamless coordination between the New Urban Communities Authority, the project’s consultant “Dar Engineering,” and the Chinese company CSCEC, which achieved global execution rates of just seven days to complete each floor.
