Ministry of Housing Issues Decision No. 1102 of 2024 for Land Expropriation in Giza

The Ministry of Housing and Utilities has issued Decision No. 1102 of 2024 regarding the expropriation of lands in Giza for the implementation of the Kamel Amer Axis Project.

Published in the Egyptian Gazette, issue No. 241, on October 31, 2024, the decision outlines the expropriation of several parcels of land including: Al-Jami, Al-Ishreen, Al-Marabia, Al-Bour and Al-Yahudi, Keman Az El-Din, Al-Dala, Rizka Shaaban, Bahri El-Bahira, Al-Tawil Al-Fouqani, Al-Tawil Al-Tahtani, Al-Ishrafia Al-Sharqiya, Qalawa, and Al-Janain Al-Gharbiya. The total area amounts to 12,845.94 square meters, as indicated in the survey records prepared by the Giza Survey Directorate. This action comes after the owners of these lands were unable to sign the transfer documents for public benefit.

The decision is executed in accordance with Prime Minister Decision No. 2665 of 2021, which deems the establishment of the Kamel Amer Axis (formerly known as the Zomor Canal) in Giza as a public utility project.

This resolution follows the review of Presidential Decision No. 279 of 2018, which delegated certain authorities, as well as Prime Minister Decision No. 2128 of 2019, which also recognizes the Kamel Amer Axis Project as a public utility initiative. It is based on the request from the Giza Survey Directorate (letter No. 353, dated July 7, 2024), seeking to issue a decision for the expropriation of the specified parcels, which were presented but not finalized for registration in the relevant real estate office as per Prime Minister Decision No. 2665 of 2021. The decision is further supported by the proposal from the Chief Engineer of the Central Agency for Reconstruction for the public good.
