Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, along with a delegation, visited the industrial zone in Kocaeli, Turkey, as part of his official trip aimed at exchanging expertise and encouraging the localization of essential industries needed for housing and utilities projects in Egypt. The visit is also geared toward promoting Turkish industrial developers and investors to expand their presence in the Egyptian market.
During the visit, Minister El-Sherbiny was briefed by officials on the operational systems and management techniques used in the Kocaeli industrial zone, which spans approximately 5 million square meters. The area hosts over 90 industrial developers and investors, specializing in various sectors such as electrical and mechanical equipment, water pumps, lighting solutions, electrical panels, robotics, and even aircraft components.
The Minister emphasized the importance of leveraging private-sector expertise through the concept of industrial developers to maximize the efficiency of managing and operating industrial zones. He highlighted Egypt’s commitment to supporting foreign direct investment, particularly in industrial projects that can generate employment opportunities and boost the economy. He also pointed out Egypt’s own experience in establishing industrial zones across different regions, aiming to attract both local and international investors.
Additionally, Minister El-Sherbiny discussed the importance of infrastructure development in industrial areas, particularly in terms of water supply, wastewater management, and transportation systems. He noted that advanced infrastructure is crucial for enabling industrial developers to achieve their goals.
In closing, El-Sherbiny reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to collaborate with Turkish industrial developers, offering full support from the Ministry of Housing, in coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Industry, to encourage investment and strengthen the economic ties between Egypt and Turkey.
