New Housing Units Allocated for People with Disabilities in Egypt

Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the allocation of 5% (330 units) of a total of 6,575 housing units ready for immediate delivery across 15 new cities for individuals with disabilities or their guardians. This initiative comes in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide care and support for citizens with disabilities.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Minister of Housing revealed that applications for these housing units can be submitted through the electronic platform “Masaken – Housing Units” (www.reserve.newcities.gov.eg). The application process will open from Sunday, October 27, 2024, to Thursday, December 26, 2024. Detailed brochures outlining payment methods, locations, prices, and unit sizes will be made available on the website. The allocation will take place through a public lottery, with the date and location of the draw to be announced later.

The available units for reservation include projects such as “Janna,” “Dar Misr,” “Sakan Misr,” “Premium Housing,” and “Residential Buildings in the Sixth District,” located in cities like New Cairo, New Alamein, New Mansoura, 6th of October, New October, October Gardens, Badr, Al-Obour, Al-Shorouk, 10th of Ramadan, Sadat City, New Minya, New West Qena, Nasser (West Asyut), and New Damietta.

Dr. Hassan Al-Shourbagy, Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority for Real Estate and Commercial Affairs, stated that applicants from the disabled community or their guardians can register on the website by entering essential information such as their name, national ID number, email, phone number, address, and the number of their integrated services card. A copy of their national ID and integrated services card must also be attached.

Once registered, applicants can select the city in which they wish to apply, choose the project, and select the floor type (ground, repeated, or top). They will then need to pay a reservation fee and processing fees using the reference number obtained from the site through one of the following methods: MasterCard, cash payment via Fawry Plus, or a bank transfer through the Housing and Development Bank. Proof of payment must also be submitted on the website.

Dr. Al-Shourbagy emphasized that after the application period closes, the submitted applications will be reviewed, and the number of eligible applicants who have paid their reservation fees will be tallied. These applicants will be notified of the date and location of the lottery, which will include 5% (330 units) of the total units available (6,575). The lottery process will start with individuals with disabilities first, followed by the remaining applicants.
