Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inspected the progress of residential units being constructed as part of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” in New Aswan City. Currently, a total of 14,568 units are under construction across low- and middle-income housing sectors, as well as green housing and river tourism projects in the city.
The Minister emphasized the need to expedite the construction rates of the initiative’s units in New Aswan City, urging for compressed timelines to ensure timely delivery to beneficiaries. He specified that no units should be handed over until all site works are fully completed, assigning his technical office team to prepare a weekly report on the status of these units for his direct review.
During his tour of the river tourism projects in New Aswan City, El-Shorbiny called for standard maintenance works to preserve the visual identity and aesthetic appearance of the project, which has been developed for the enjoyment of citizens. He also instructed adherence to standard operating procedures for the various facilities within the project, in coordination with consultants.
The Minister was accompanied by several officials, including Dr. Sid Ismail, Deputy Minister; Dr. Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan; Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Urban Planning; Dr. Mohamed Hassan, CEO of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency; and Engineer Ahmed Abdel-Azim, Head of New Aswan City Authority, along with other officials from the Authority and the Minister’s technical office.
