Minister of Housing Affirms Continued Crackdown on Building Violations in New Cities

Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasized the continuation of campaigns to remove building violations and illegal encroachments across several new cities. He stated that the government will not tolerate violations and will enforce the law strictly to maintain the urban integrity and uphold the state’s authority.

The minister clarified that no reconciliation will be allowed for building violations that occurred after the enactment of Law No. 187 of 2023, regarding the reconciliation of some building violations and regularization of their status. Citizens with eligible violations are urged to submit their reconciliation requests by November 4, the final deadline for accepting applications.

In line with this, Engineer Mohamed El-Sayed Abdel Maksoud, Head of the City Authority of El Shorouk, confirmed the authority’s commitment to addressing violations. The authority recently executed removal orders for unauthorized constructions on two residential buildings, where the upper floors exceeded the permitted building ratio. He added that violators will bear the cost of the removal and urged landowners to adhere to building regulations.

Meanwhile, Engineer Marwa Hussein Amin, Head of the Sheikh Zayed City Authority, reported the daily campaigns under the supervision of Engineer Ramadan Abdel Samad. These efforts led to the removal of encroachments and illegal structures, including unauthorized columns and rooms.

In Sadat City, Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim Hassan, Head of the Development Authority, revealed the closure and sealing of 10 residential units that were violating contract terms. A similar campaign in Beni Suef City, led by Engineer Ahmed Abdel Gabar, resulted in the removal of 20 street encroachments and the closure of 31 unlicensed shops.

These coordinated efforts across cities reflect the government’s commitment to restoring order and maintaining the aesthetic and functional integrity of urban spaces.
