Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting today to follow up on the ongoing preparations for the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), set to be held in Cairo from November 4 to 8, 2024. The meeting was attended by Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Ambassador Atef Salem, General Coordinator of WUF12, and several other senior officials.
At the outset, Dr. Madbouly highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring of the preparations for this prestigious global event, hosted in cooperation with the UN-Habitat program. He emphasized the need for coordination among relevant ministries to ensure the success of the event and to organize accompanying activities and high-level participation.
Ambassador Atef Salem reported that over 6,000 participants have already registered for the forum, along with 105 companies signed up for the exhibition. Invitations for global dignitaries and officials are being prepared.
Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny provided an update on the efforts of the Ministry of Housing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Development, to coordinate with the national forum coordinator and follow the logistical plans set by the UN-Habitat program. The organizing company, GCM, has approved the overall site design, including the Egyptian pavilion, which spans 1,500 m². Marketing plans at Cairo Airport and uniforms for organizers and volunteers were also discussed.
Additionally, Minister El-Sherbiny outlined the proposed program for WUF12, including several special sessions scheduled over the forum’s duration. He also reviewed the general layout of the exhibition area, including the national and institutional pavilions, registration tents, and various access points to the conference halls.
The exhibition will feature over 102 international and local organizations from 49 countries across a space of more than 6,000 m². The Minister also highlighted ongoing discussions with major real estate developers to sponsor the event.
