Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the completion of 2,508 projects across 10 governorates as part of the first phase of the presidential initiative “Hayat Karema” aimed at developing the Egyptian countryside. The Central Agency for Reconstruction is overseeing the implementation of 3,631 developmental projects across 741 villages and their surrounding areas in 25 centers within these 10 governorates. These projects include the establishment of service and agricultural complexes, youth centers, bridges, healthcare facilities, ambulance stations, social welfare services, electricity networks, roads, and housing units under the “Hayat Karema” program.
In a related development, Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, held a virtual meeting with executive heads to review the progress of the first-phase projects. He emphasized the need to expedite work and ensure that contractors are paid promptly to meet deadlines.
The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life in rural areas, providing essential services and infrastructure, including 176 completed service complexes and 171 agricultural complexes. In addition, 467 youth centers, 225 health units, 185 ambulance stations, and 453 bridges have been completed, significantly improving access to essential services.
The first phase also saw the completion of electricity network upgrades in 646 villages, 125 social solidarity centers, and the construction of 25 housing buildings under the “Hayat Karema” project. Road infrastructure work is also progressing, with 35 out of 730 road projects completed to facilitate transportation and improve village connectivity.
This initiative is a critical part of the government’s broader effort to modernize rural Egypt, providing long-term benefits and employment opportunities for thousands of citizens.
