Housing Ministry: Unlicensed Construction Significantly Reduced Over Recent Years

Eng. Nafisa Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Housing and Supervisor of the Housing and Utilities Sector, has stated that unlicensed construction has seen a significant decline in recent years due to the state’s efforts in monitoring and addressing violations.

In a phone interview on the program “Kol El-Zawaya” with journalist Sarah Hazem Taha, aired on ON TV, Hashem explained that the Ministry has introduced several amendments to the Building Law to encourage citizens to comply with legal construction processes.

She highlighted that violations and unlicensed building became widespread during the period of unrest following the January 25 Revolution. However, in the past years, the state has successfully curbed this issue. Hashem also noted that the government is addressing violations that occurred during that time through the Reconciliation Law.
