President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi praised the progress achieved in economic cooperation and political coordination between Egypt and the European Union, noting a strong alignment of visions on several regional and international issues such as the situation in Gaza, efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis, and combating illegal migration. He also commended Hungary, under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for its continued support of Egypt’s positions within the EU.
This came during President El-Sisi’s meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister, accompanied by senior officials from both sides, to discuss bilateral relations.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy explained that the discussions covered the growing bilateral ties, which have deepened since being elevated to a strategic partnership in February 2023. This partnership includes areas such as energy, railways, and telecommunications.
The Hungarian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the strengthening cooperation with Egypt, expressing his pleasure at visiting the country again after his participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. He also affirmed his country’s anticipation of officially welcoming President El-Sisi to Hungary in 2026.
The meeting further addressed the recent Egyptian-European Summit and Egypt’s pivotal role in combating illegal migration and hosting refugees. Additionally, discussions touched on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, where President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution that would bring an end to the conflict.
