6th of October City Authority Enhances Lighting Efficiency on Major Roads

The 6th of October City Development Authority announced the continuation of development and lighting enhancement works across several key areas within the city. These efforts aim to reflect the city’s modern and civilized image in preparation for the much-anticipated global event. The initiative comes in line with the directives of Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to continue improving the lighting efficiency of roads and routes leading to the Grand Egyptian Museum.

In this context, Engineer Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Authority, explained that the authority continues to work tirelessly to implement a comprehensive plan designed to upgrade lighting networks and poles according to high-quality technical standards. The plan also considers the aesthetic and symbolic aspects of the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the most prominent cultural and tourist landmarks in the world.

He pointed out that the ongoing works include enhancing the lighting systems of major roads and axes such as the 26th of July Corridor, Dahshour Link, and Al Wahat Road, in addition to internal roads leading to hotel and tourist areas surrounding the museum. He added that high implementation rates have already been achieved in most of the targeted locations.

Mostafa further noted that the plan relies on the use of energy-saving LED lights with high illumination efficiency to reduce energy consumption and improve overall lighting quality. Meanwhile, the authority is repainting and maintaining light poles and unifying their colors to present the city in its best form, in conjunction with the museum’s upcoming grand opening.

For her part, Engineer Amal Lotfy, Deputy Head of the Authority, stated that the ongoing efforts aim to achieve 100% lighting coverage along all main routes leading to the museum. This, she said, will help highlight the site’s unique architectural details and add an elegant visual touch that reflects the city’s distinguished image to visitors from around the globe.

Lotfy confirmed that fieldwork teams continue to perform their duties around the clock, with intensified daily monitoring to ensure steady progress according to plan. Complete coordination is also maintained with the electricity and road maintenance departments to achieve maximum readiness before the major event begins.

In conclusion, the Head of the Authority emphasized that the development, lighting, and beautification currently taking place in 6th of October City fall within the state’s vision to present Egypt’s new touristic capital in its finest image to guests from all over the world. He added, “The lights of October will shine like the moon on a night when the world celebrates Egypt and its glorious history.”
