Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the latest developments in the implementation of a range of housing, road, infrastructure, and service projects in New Suez City, one of Egypt’s fourth-generation cities currently being developed by the Ministry of Housing. This follow-up visit comes within the framework of efforts to establish integrated urban communities that contribute to improving quality of life, meeting citizens’ needs, and supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
The minister reviewed the outcomes of recent field visits and the progress of various projects in the city, which included the Free Housing Project, service facilities, a wastewater treatment plant, a water lifting station, and a main power distributor. He also examined periodic reports detailing the stages of implementation and completion rates of the projects. El-Shorbiny emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts across all work sectors and adhering to the established project timelines, highlighting the importance of continuous on-site monitoring to ensure the highest quality standards and rapid execution.

In this context, officials from the New Suez City Development Authority conducted several field inspections to follow up on ongoing projects. The visits included the Banking Zone in the city’s first phase, which is being prepared to provide financial services that will support economic activity and serve the local population.
The authority’s officials also inspected the progress of general landscaping and finishing works for the Free Housing Project, which consists of 86 residential buildings comprising a total of 2,064 housing units. Additionally, they observed the advancement of works in the first service area, which includes a commercial market, a basic education school, and a model nursery.
Officials also toured the industrial wastewater treatment plant in the Ataqa area to assess its operational efficiency, with a design capacity of 52,000 cubic meters per day. They further monitored the ongoing development and efficiency enhancement works in the first industrial district.
Meanwhile, the project’s technical team followed up on the construction of the main electrical distribution station, which has a production capacity of 30 megavolt-amperes (MVA) and is designated to power the city’s urgent phase. This project represents a crucial component in supporting the electrical infrastructure for residential and service zones and in fostering future development initiatives. Moreover, progress was recorded in the installation of the modern lighting network and telecommunications system, which have now reached 80% completion.
Among the project’s top priorities was the inspection of the water supply system serving the first industrial district. This included a visit to the main water lifting station, operating with a 900 mm diameter, and the operational follow-up of the interchange transmission line, also of 900 mm diameter, designed to enhance water supply stability and minimize the impact of potential malfunctions on industrial operations in the area.
