Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with officials from the Development and Construction Sector of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to review the progress of work within the sector, in the presence of several ministry representatives.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of the Development and Construction Sector, describing it as one of the key sectors directly linked to citizens’ daily lives in new cities. He noted that the sector plays a major role in shaping the public image of the Authority, being primarily responsible for managing development and operation activities related to sanitation, beautification, public service management, and the supervision of various housing projects.
The Minister highlighted the necessity of continuous monitoring to ensure tangible progress that citizens can feel, particularly in the areas of cleanliness and city operations. He explained that the establishment of “Madin” Company aims to enhance the cleanliness system across new cities, improving the overall living experience for residents while accelerating project completion and the handover of housing units to beneficiaries.
During the meeting, the Minister also addressed the progress of city beautification efforts, calling for intensified efforts and creative ideas across all cities. He stressed the importance of setting a clear plan to upgrade city gates and main squares to reflect each city’s unique development identity.
The meeting further reviewed the current cleanliness system, evaluating the performance of existing cleaning companies operating within the cities, and underscored the importance of carefully selecting qualified service providers to ensure high-quality results.
The discussions also covered mechanisms for addressing urban violations such as unauthorized activity changes and other infractions. The Minister called for establishing a governance framework through regular field inspections by specialized teams. The meeting additionally reviewed the management of public utilities in ongoing projects, the regulation of advertisements along city roads, the operation of service buildings, and the organization of operational licenses for commercial outlets.
The Minister directed the formation of a monitoring unit in every city to assess service performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and ensure corrective actions are taken wherever needed. He emphasized the importance of preserving and enhancing each city’s unique identity while improving service delivery standards.
The meeting also included updates on the progress of various housing projects under implementation, including “Housing for All Egyptians,” “Sakan Misr,” “JANNA,” “Diarna,” and “Zilal.” These projects aim to meet the housing needs of low- and middle-income citizens, in addition to luxury housing developments. The Minister stressed the importance of setting a clear plan to complete the remaining works and deliver the housing units to their rightful beneficiaries within the scheduled timelines.
